One day a few years back..I went to a coffee shop and went through the drive through. When I went to pay for my drink, the woman who worked there told me that the man before me left money and wanted to pay for the next person's drink. Seems like a simple thing but it was huge for me. I was blown away by the simple kindness of a stranger..I then gave her money and asked her to pay for the next drink on me. She laughed and it all never left me. There was something about the act..that it was small in a way, but hugely thoughtful and it was caused by action. More than just feeling something for someone or about something. $3.67 ended up being worth so much more. Nate and I were praying on New Years Eve as we went to bed and he asked me what I wanted to do this year. All I could say was..help people. He asked me, how? I wasn't sure yet. So..when the idea popped into the brain, I ran it by Nate and he was IN. Nate took it before the council of children to get their opinions and see if this was something they wanted to be a part of and could be committed too. The kids thought about it and decided, they were IN! So we have a team..a team of 5. We have decided to take on 365 days of kindness. Each of us will take a day in a rotation. We expect it to be fun, hard, challenging, exciting, all things really. Starting each day asking God to help us out and give us ideas, give us people. Maybe somedays it will be a big deal. Most days, probably little deals. I don't know, really. I know that I want our family to change mostly. To be a family that thinks beyond ourselves. To consider others and their needs everyday. To ask God and do all good deeds because we love Him first and consider Him first. This could be a very cool year. So, we are going to keep our stories on here..mostly so we can remember them for ourselves. If God uses any of them to speak to you, that would be cool too.
