Today marks the day of completing one month of our mission...crazy. I already see changes in my kids and I am excited to see what happens the next 11 months. I have had people email me privately about being inspired to start their own mission of kindness and it just blew me away. Month 2...here we go.


I picked up a valentine's bag and bought some valentine paper to go with it. I filled it with lots of valentine candy and made it look really pretty. I had Cole and Kendall hand deliver it to our neighbor. She wasn't home but they left it on her doorstep. I got a call on my cell that night from her. I missed the call but had a voicemail that said...Hi Melanie this is ____ I think it was probably you who left that beautiful Valentine bag of candy for me and it was you who left the candy for me a while ago. I just wanted to say thank you so much, it was so thoughtful and you are so kind to think of me.....I listened to it twice and had Nate listen..... It really is just knowing that you are thought about, that makes all the difference. That YOU crossed someones mind. Simple as buying a candy bar for someone or letting them have the bracelet they admire. Giving them your box of crayons to use when they don't have one or giving them your chips when you think they might be hungry. Spending time to make sure they get all their math right and giving a waiter at a small restaurant the biggest tip he's probably had in a while...I am happy to be sharing these memories with my family and to be hopefully giving glory to God while we do it.
