February 12th

Nathan:

I want to talk about something Cole did on Friday that really impressed me. There was no school on Friday so the kids were stuck with me for the day driving in my car. We made a stop at the store to get some cards and a family Valentines present for Mel. While at the store the girls and I stuck together and Cole took of on his own to find a belt (because the boys way to skinny and his pants are always to big). When we met up with Cole he had a whole bunch of items in his hand. He had his belt, 3 Tech Decks (finger skateboards)a nerf axe and a nerf sword. I was like, wow, I thought you were just getting a belt. He then told me it was his day to be nice so he had bought his sisters the tech decks along with getting one for his friend. The belt and the axe were for him and the sword was for his friend because his friend is always giving him things when he's over at his house. So we get to the check out line and Kendall is a sucker for all the gadgets they try to sell you while waiting in line. She is always trying to get me to buy something she sees. Well this time she wanted to buy a box of crayons (along with a gazillion other things) and Cole remembered her telling the story of a girl in her class who doesn't have crayons and he told her he would buy the crayons for her to give to the girl. Kendall liked the idea and said she could give them to her on her kindness day. I then intervened and said that I would buy them for Kendall so she could give them to the girl. I first bought the things I was buying and then Cole bought the things he was buying. Come to find out while at the check out line (me having no clue) Cole put the crayons in his pile and payed for them himself. I didn't find out until we were in the car when I overheard him and Kendall talking. It was something he just wanted to do. In fact I didn't even know it was Cole's idea until we were in the car. Cole really impressed me that day and I am extremely proud of his act of kindness. What an amazing kid.
